HHPlayer installs on Fire TV with Downloader, and it is not the only option. Here is how it compares with the main alternatives, as of November 2026.

Quick answer

As of November 2026, HHPlayer for Fire TV is installed as an APK with the free Downloader app: enter hhplayer.app/apk. It is not in the Amazon Appstore yet. HHPlayer is free, with no ads, no account and no in-app purchases, and it has a full TV guide, catch-up when your provider supports it, and movies and series. The usual alternatives are Smarters Pro, TiviMate and OTT Navigator, plus Kodi.

HHPlayer includes no content: use a playlist or login from a provider you are entitled to use.

What to look for in an IPTV player on Fire TV

  • How you install it. Fire TV can use the Amazon Appstore or sideloaded APK files. Many IPTV players are not in the Appstore, so you may need Downloader.
  • Remote-friendly controls. Channel numbers, fast zapping and a guide you can use with the Fire TV remote.
  • Playlist types. M3U links and Xtream Codes logins. See M3U vs Xtream Codes.
  • TV guide and catch-up. See TV guide and catch-up explained.
  • Speed on a stick. Fire TV Stick hardware is modest, so large playlists need an app that stays smooth.
  • Updates. Sideloaded apps may not update automatically through the store. Check how the app updates.

The players compared

HHPlayer

Free, with no ads, accounts or in-app purchases; playlists and history stay on the device. It supports M3U and Xtream Codes, live TV with categories, favorites and a live preview, channel number keys, a full TV guide grid from XMLTV data, catch-up where available, movies and series with resume and next-episode autoplay, search, several playlists, a parental lock, and it remembers your audio and subtitle choices. It is built for the remote and low-end sticks. On Fire TV it is installed with Downloader, and a Downloader-installed APK is not yet updated through the Appstore; install the new APK over the old one and your playlists are kept.

Smarters Pro

Smarters Pro by Tech Smarters is a widely used name. Its website lists an Android TV app, an EPG, parental control, multiple playlists, picture-in-picture, Chromecast and a master search. Its Google Play listing shows in-app purchases, and we did not verify its current Amazon Appstore status or prices, so check the store. Be careful with look-alike apps from other publishers. See HHPlayer vs IPTV Smarters.

TiviMate

We could not read TiviMate's official pages, so this is from third-party guides: it is reported not to be in the Amazon Appstore, so it is sideloaded, and it is described as a free base with a paid Premium unlock. Check the developer's site for current terms.

OTT Navigator

Third-party guides report that OTT Navigator is also sideloaded on Fire TV, with a paid Premium tier through a companion app. We could not verify prices or features from an official source.

Kodi

Kodi is free and open source (GPL). Its PVR IPTV Simple Client loads M3U playlists and XMLTV guides from a file or URL and supports several catch-up modes. Xtream Codes only appears as a catch-up mode, not as a full login with a movie library. Powerful, but more setup than a dedicated IPTV player. We did not verify its Amazon Appstore status.

How to install an IPTV player on Fire TV

  1. On the Fire TV, search for Downloader (by AFTVnews) and install it from the Amazon Appstore.
  2. Allow it to install apps: Settings, My Fire TV, Developer options, Install unknown apps, then turn on Downloader. If you do not see Developer options, open Settings, My Fire TV, About, and press OK on your device name several times.
  3. Open Downloader, enter hhplayer.app/apk and choose Go.
  4. When the download finishes, choose Install, then Open. Downloader then offers to delete the APK; HHPlayer stays installed.
  5. On first launch, choose M3U playlist and enter your provider's link, or Xtream Codes and enter the server, username and password.

If you see "Install blocked", allow Downloader to install unknown apps (step 2) and open the download again. No provider yet? Try the demo playlist.

Our verdict

HHPlayer is a good fit on Fire TV if you want a free, ad-free player with a real TV guide and a smooth interface on a Fire TV Stick, and you do not mind the one-time Downloader setup. Smarters Pro, TiviMate and OTT Navigator are established alternatives; confirm how each is installed and priced before you commit. Using Android TV instead? See the Android TV guide, where HHPlayer is on Google Play.

Prices and availability change, so check official sources. HHPlayer includes no content.
